CMETB host Virtual-Reality Welding Workshops to local Secondary School students
Cavan and Monaghan Education and Training board (CMETB) hosted a number of Virtual Reality Welding Workshops for several Monaghan Secondary Schools in Monaghan Institute.
The main goal with Virtual Reality Welding is to optimise the welding expertise and improve performance. Students completed welding tasks thus simulating the physical movements of welding and received feedback on body position, arc speed and quality. Welding is a skilled trade that is in high demand in many industries including construction, manufacturing, and engineering. However, it is also a potentially hazardous activity that requires a great deal of skill and expertise to carry out safely and effectively.
Students also completed Manual Metal Arc (MMA/Stick) and Metal Inert Gag (MIG) welding tasks in the Engineering workshop putting into practice their new found skills obtained from the Virtual reality software, -utilising all of fantastic Engineering facilities on offer in Monaghan Institute.
CMETB are offering Taster workshops to Secondary Schools including virtual Reality Welding Engineering, Autocad, Robotics and much more. This opportunity allows students to experience a range of disciplines as they embark on their education journey and decide on career pathways. Students can see the range of programmes and training available to include apprenticeships and traineeships.
