Public Appointments Service has recommended John Kearney for appointment as Chief Executive Officer of the National Council for Special Education.
The Chief Executive of Cavan and Monaghan Education and Training Board, Mr. John Kearney has been recommended for appointment as Chief Executive Officer of the National Council for Special Education (NCSE) after a Top-Level Appointments Committee (TLAC) Public Appointments Service recruitment process.
The NCSE has duly approved this appointment and has written to the Minister of State for Special Education and Inclusion, Josepha Madigan T.D., and the Minister for Education Norma Foley T.D.
The NCSE was set up to improve the delivery of education services to persons with special educational needs arising from disabilities with particular emphasis on children.
Speaking to CMETB Board Members and Staff, Mr. John Kearney said:
‘This appointment will enable me to bring unique CMETB insights on education delivery excellence honed by you all to the national setting.
While looking forward to the new professional challenge, I am finding it difficult to be leaving CMETB as my time here has kept me inspired over the years by the strategic value that CMETB brings to Counties Cavan and Monaghan.
Our schools are going from strength to strength imbued by quality teaching and learning and peerless pastoral care for our students. CMETB Further Education and Training Services are maximising regional impact in progressing community cohesion and economic development. Our administration support services have established a renowned reputation in the delivery of local services and national reform initiatives.
It has been a privilege to work with you as Chief Executive. I thank you most sincerely for your support and commend you all on the outstanding contribution that you are making.
It remains for me to wish you and CMETB continued success for the future, and I look forward to working with you in my new role.’
